The Ludwik Solski State Drama School in Kraków

The Ludwik Solski State Drama School in Krakow (PWST) was founded in 1946 by Juliusz Osterwa as a result of a connection of the three schools existing in Krakow: An Actor's Studio at the Stary Theatre, Actor's Studio at the Juliusz Słowacki Theatre and the Iwo Gall's Drama Studio, which all were educating dramatic actors. At present the School conducts one cycle master studies leading to a Master of Fine Arts degree at the Acting Department, the Drama Directing Department, the Puppetry Department and the Department of Dance Theatre. PWST is an academic public school and it has the powers to conduct the proceedings on obtaining following academic degrees: doctorate, habilitation and professor in theatre arts. Direct supervision over the school is held by The Ministry of Culture and National Heritage.
